Hey, can I drop that for ya?

So, were you aware of how fun it is to drop something while standing and then squat down to pick it up? No? Really? Because it is, like, so crazy fun. Or so says our kid. Well, he doesn't actually say it, more shows it by his actions of repeatedly dropping and squatting. At this rate he is going to be some sort of yogi or body builder. I vote for yogi, then I can get classes for free.

The Hoagie actually is saying "oooooooo" right now. And a lot of it. Maybe soon we will have doo, moo, and boo. Whatever. All I want to hear is mama when he isn't mad. (Just kidding, it's all cute.)

And the latest party trick, you ask? When I say "gimme five!" he holds out his hand. So darn cute.

Greetings from Palm Desert

Hoagie's first trip to Palm Springs is a success. The suite we are in is fabulous (including block out shades, always important for napping. Oh the things I care about now...). It has a full kitchen, living room, dining area, master suite and our room has a kitchenette and sitting area perfect for Logan. Hooray for the time share!

We packed up what felt like our entire apartment on Sunday and made it here in time to see the Eagles pull it out in the 4th quarter. Hoagie went swimming the next morning and definitely enjoyed himself. Don's parents arrived and we just relaxed for the rest of the day. Tuesday saw more swimming and a trip to the top of the San Jacinto Mountains on a rotating aerial tram. So crazy to go from desert to wooded forest in 15 minutes. Yesterday we went to Joshua Tree (the long way, thanks Google) and climbed around on the big big rocks. Today is shopping at the best. outlets. ever.

A few firsts this week:
  • Talking to the Brown family with the web cam, Hoagie looooved seeing Great Grammy Brown
  • Sunburn. Thought I covered him completely. I was wrong.
  • Spreading arms wide as a response to "How big is Logan.... sooooooo big!" Very cute. A Nana trick.
  • Creeping. All over the place, and very proud of himself, thank you very much.
  • Forehead bruise shaped like Harry Potter's scar. Procured within minutes of arriving. Way to go Mom.

So here are a few pics to verify we are in fact on vacation and this isn't some bizarro ruse to trick you into thinking we left San Diego.

Interaction

Logan actually played with Sunshine today! It was so incredibly cute. He really just wanted the fuzzy toys at the end of the stick, but his flailing around resulted in fun interaction. He also had the privledge of talking to many of the Brown clan over the internet today. Love the Web cam! It was nice to be a small part of the annual Christmas celebration and especially nice to talk to Great Grammy for a bit.

In home news, we had three people look at the house today. It is an encouraging sign, if nothing else. Oh, it would be so wonderful to move, but it just seems so far away.

So we are off to Palm Springs (our very favorite vacation locale) for a week. We will be staying with Don's parents and we are looking forward to it so much. The packing list is insane, as 95% of it is Logan's crap. How can such a little being need so much stuff? Anyway, we plan to ride the tram to the top of the mountain, visit Joshua Tree (though it won't be the same without the Stogsdills), have a date night, hit the outlets, visit the downtown, and swim a bunch. Wheee! There is wireless in the room so hopefully I can post while I am there, but if not, no one will notice since I have been so erratic. Sorry about that. I promise to be better. The blogs I like the best are the ones who are frequently updated, so I will follow suit.

Here are a couple cute pics from the last few days...

Applause

He can clap! I was greeted by applause when I went to nurse him the other night. Too cute.

We had a great time with my parents and Hoagie was spoiled beyond belief. He seemed to pick up about 4 or 5 new behaviors while they were here as well...
  • clapping (duh, we covered this already)
  • waving (which is intermittent at best, but still, waving is cool)
  • kissing
  • peek-a-boo

We didn't stay up late last night, and didn't ring in the new year at midnight. I think this is the first one I have missed in a long time. I don't feel cheated and enjoyed our evening in. Hoagie went to bed at 7 as usual. He's one wild little boy.

Here are some pics. I promise to blog more later and make it a little more meaty.
